Carey Kirk Griffin, husband Nathan Griffin and daughters Eleanor, six, and Molly, four, are the proud inhabitants of Haw River Homestead. The homestead, in North Carolina, is a backyard farming project that has the Griffins growing herbs, vegetables and raising chickens, much to the delight of their neighbours.
The family is part of the urban farming movement that has taken off in the past decade with thousands of millennials declaring they want to get back to the land. And when you scroll through the images on the Haw River Homestead feed you’ll immediately understand why. Life looks good there. So good you might find you want a homestead of your own.
