The Perfect Ponytail – Only Way Sexier!

The perfect ponytail is – well – perfect and for a variety of reasons.

Firstly, it can take you anywhere – the office, the gym, coffee or the club. But, and this is a big but, only if it’s done right. The good news is doing it right is SO much easier than you might think.

Here’s a very easy guide by my pal Aleks Abadia from Esstudio Galleria – a very cool little joint in the hipster burb of Chippendale in Sydney. By the way – don’t let that put you off if hipsters aren’t your thing. It’s one of the most welcoming salons you’ll ever stumble across. Promise. But back to the perfect pony.

Section hair into two parts, front and back.

Pull the bottom section into a loose ponytail at the nape of the neck.

Hold the front section straight up and gently back comb with a back-combing brush. (Back-combing is simply brushing towards the roots rather than the tradition brushing from roots to ends). Doing so will give you’re pony volume at the crown which is where you want it.

Yes … this is a Bobbi Pin. Lady Jayne do a great range. You’ll need a few of those. And this little The Body Shop brush is cute yes? Pop it in your handbag in case you need touch ups on the go.

Next, pin the top section on each side with a Bobbi pin or three. Use the pins to push the hair up further at the front.

Next, take the lower section and bring it up to meet the top section. Gather all of the hair into one bunch and tie with an elastic.

Finally, take a small section of hair from the pony and wrap it tight around the base to hide the elastic. Use a Bobbi pin to hold and then, a little hair spray.

Eleven Australia’s Give Me Hold Flexible Hairspray is perfect – super hold no weight. And the Remington Blush Style Collection Straightener Pack is also an excellent choice.

The super keen can tong the pony so that it has even more volume and some loose, sexy curls.

Yes, yes, yes! You can do it and you will look AMAZING! Let us know how you go. And if you’ve any extra tips and tricks, share them with us. We can add your comments in. We’re all friends here.
