By the time we’re in our early 20s we understand the need to follow a skincare regime that at the very least includes; thorough cleansing both morning and night, moisturiser with an SPF during the day, eye cream, plus a targeted moisturiser for night time.
The vast majority of Australian women are doing exactly that – but, they’re also making one very significant mistake. They’re forgetting that skin does not end at the jawline.
“Your face stops at your boobs,” says Zoe Foster-Blake, creator of the skincare line Go-To and author of the beauty bible Amazing Face (Penguin).
“Not at your chin or jawline or where your neck meets your décolletage. At your boobs.”
That’s maybe a little more blunt than we might have been, but Zoe is onto something. We take a great deal of care with our skin, but many of us forget to extend our skincare to our necks and also décolletage.
This is a mistake. Trust me on that one.
Necks that are exposed to the sun’s harsh rays and not properly treated with moisturisers tend to develop fine lines and wrinkles and also, sagging. And no matter how beautiful the skin on your face – an ageing neck is a dead giveaway.
You can fight back however. Firstly, remember, skin doesn’t end at the jawline and start applying an appropriate product today.
