Some days I roll out of bed and look pretty damn awesome. My hair is behaving, my skin is dewy and my eyes sparkle. Other days, not so much.
At those times I fall back on a few classic tricks to get me over the line. Hair – into a ponytail. Skin – cleansed, toned and moisturised. And then, eye makeup – because it’s the area that will make the world of difference.
First up, concealer. A touch of white, or liner along the waterline of the lower lid and perhaps a dot of gold or silver shimmer in the inner corners of the eyes. And then, my magical new discovery. Shimmery, rich, deep blue eyeshadow.
Yep, I know what you’re thinking. We haven’t seen that since 1974 but I’m here to tell you, it’s straight up genius when it comes to freshening up your look. It’s the cosmetic equivalent of eight hours sleep. Plus, it’s dead chic too.
To make this look work, apply it with a fat eyeshadow brush so that you get it all over the lid from the lashes, to the brow bone. Apply a light layer first of all. Next, get a fluffy eyeshadow brush and apply close to the upper lash line and over the eyelid to the eye crease. Blend.
Then, choose a slightly darker shade of blue and apply from the upper outside corner of the eye and sweep in and down towards the crease. Then, sweep a second stroke of shadow, starting at the outside lower corner at the lash line and bring it in and up to the crease.
The super keen (or dead tired) can then add a slightly darker blue (or black) liner along the upper lash line. Smudge with a finger or blending brush and voila. You’re fresh as hell and way sexy too. Now get out there and make it happen.
